With the temperature hitting +17C spending the afternoon skiing was an irresistible temptation. We skied in our T-shirts and enjoyed the sunshine.

A very busy day at the ski hill. It was really great seeing all of the families out to try boarding, skiing and tubing on a beautiful Family Day holiday. Here’s DH on Snow Valley’s ‘triple lift’, heading up the ski hill.

Today’s picture: DH, about to go downhill….We took the day off to go skiing and attend the MASH Bash. The MASH Bash is held annually in support of a local hospital, so it’s a good excuse to see the fun and ski. Our proud troops from CFB Borden brought equipment, a warming tent, and their good humour. A live band played on the deck while Doo Doo the Clown entertained the audience during the bedpan races. Once we were home the day was topped off by a steak dinner and watching the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. I admit missing part of the ceremonies because I dozed off. Hours of cold air and a steak dinner will do that to you.

And just in case you’re wondering about a bed pan race….

Put bedpan under backside, slide down the hill. Hope for the best.
Or take part in the Hawaiian ski…

I had a little fun with this, using the burst mode and then stitching the resulting images in Photoshop. In both the skiing and manipulating the photos, the process was probably more satisfying than the result.
