Winterama begins.

Here is another old building that looks a bit similar to yesterday’s kiln. This one is a much older building. Sunnidale Station hasn’t been used as a train station for many years. I remember it over thirty years ago and even then, it was unused. Now it is on privately owned land, perhaps used for storage. The track lies just behind the station and was owned by CN. A train owned by Barrie-Collingwood Railroad still runs a few times a week. Because the the track is so antiquated the train crawls along at a snail’s pace. The original track was laid in the early 1850s.

The Sunnidale Winterama is an event we always look forward to. The spaghetti dinner, parade, silent auction and many other activities all help to pass an otherwise dreary winter weekend. Here are photos from the 2009 parade.

You can see the larger images on my Picassa album by clicking the slide show.

If you’re looking for information about the 2010 Winterama, Clearview Township has a schedule of activities posted. The parade theme appears to be cartoon Olympics.
