Today’s picture: DH, about to go downhill….We took the day off to go skiing and attend the MASH Bash. The MASH Bash is held annually in support of a local hospital, so it’s a good excuse to see the fun and ski. Our proud troops from CFB Borden brought equipment, a warming tent, and their good humour. A live band played on the deck while Doo Doo the Clown entertained the audience during the bedpan races. Once we were home the day was topped off by a steak dinner and watching the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics. I admit missing part of the ceremonies because I dozed off. Hours of cold air and a steak dinner will do that to you.
And just in case you’re wondering about a bed pan race….
Put bedpan under backside, slide down the hill. Hope for the best.
Or take part in the Hawaiian ski…
Brrrrrrrr….

The Sunnidale Winterama is an event we always look forward to. The spaghetti dinner, parade, silent auction and many other activities all help to pass an otherwise dreary winter weekend. Here are photos from the 2009 parade.
You can see the larger images on my Picassa album by clicking the slide show.
If you’re looking for information about the 2010 Winterama, Clearview Township has a schedule of activities posted. The parade theme appears to be cartoon Olympics.
Wnter sunsets are under-appreciated. Today I dusted off (quite literally) my cross country skis. The snow is perfect, compacted and a bit icy with a skiff of fluffy new snow on top. I headed across a nearby field bordered by a bush of paper birch, larch and fir. The sun was just beginning to set.
I had a little fun with this, using the burst mode and then stitching the resulting images in Photoshop. In both the skiing and manipulating the photos, the process was probably more satisfying than the result.
Above Creemore, Ontario. The frost on the trees furthest away is from the Noisy River.
The 2010 Winter Olympic Games site has two photos from the torch relay through Creemore. The torch route included CFB Borden, Alliston, and Angus among other communities on Day 61 of the relay. Creemore Springs Brewery is also featured in an article on the Olympic site about the micro-brewery, now owned by Molsons.
Check out the torch’s progress with the streaming video.
And here is a bit of trivia. Did you know horse sports were included in the Winter Olympics? Both racing and ski jouring were equestrian events in past Winter Olympics. Check out my Horses About.com Blog for more on this.
I’ve been draping myself over the furniture all day. After taking several photos, this was the best of the bunch. If nothing else this exercise should inspire me to learn to take better photos. Clearly, there’s room for improvement.
